Kids classes at Cucina Casalinga are a great way to introduce your children to the tasty world of fine cooking.  Sally's Italian Cooking School is fun and hands-on! Kids really get excited about putting together great dishes!

JUNE KIDS COOK ITALIAN
Session 1

Session 1 – Monday and Tuesday - June 24th and 25th
YOUR CHILD CAN JOIN US FOR ONE OR BOTH DAYS!

Menu – Day 1 – June 24  – 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
HOMEMADE PASTA CLASS. THE ART OF MAKING FRESH EGG PASTA WITH CHEF MARLENE AND SALLY

Grissini al Prosciutto - breadsticks wrapped with prosciutto
Polpette di Nonna in Salsa di Pomodoro - my grandma's meatballs in plum tomato sauce served over homemade spaghetti
Fettuccini con Pesto – fresh pasta with pesto sauce
Insalata Mista - mixed green salad with tomatoes and Italian dressing
Chocolate and Nutella Fondue – platter of fresh fruit and assorted treats dipped in chocolate and Nutella


Menu – Day 2 – June 25 - 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
A MEXICAN FIESTA

Holiday Taco Tart - a layered dip of refried beans, sour cream, avocado, green chili salsa, green onions, olives, tomatoes and cheddar cheese served with Tostito dippers
Quesadillas - Mexican grilled cheese sandwich with a “spicy twist”, melted  cheese and chilies, served with a homemade tomato, green onion, cilantro, jalapeno and lime juice salsa
A Quick Mexican Skillet Dinner – ground beef, salsa, taco seasoning and rice served with small taco shells
Grilled Corn on the Cob – perfectly grilled corn with butter, parmigiana cheese and spices
Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cake

 



AUGUST KID'S CAMP
Session 2

Session 2 – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - August 19th, 20th and 21st
$300

Menu - Day 1 – August 19 - 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
AN ITALIAN FEAST

Manicotti di Mamma – light homemade crepes filled with ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheese baked in the oven topped with marinara sauce
Sally’s Quick Marinara Sauce – a simple sauce with garlic, extra virgin olive oil, San Marzano tomatoes and fresh basil
Pollo alla Parmigiana – chicken tenders “Italian style” with Parmigiano cheese and fresh breadcrumbs
Garlic Bread in a Bag
Insalata Mista
 – salad of mixed greens, arugula, fresh garden tomatoes and red wine vinaigrette 
Copa di Gelato di Fragole - homemade strawberry ice cream


Menu – Day 2 – August 20 – 10:30 am to 1:30 pm
GRILLING ITALIAN STYLE

Crostini al pesto, mozzarella e pomodori secchi – small toasts with pesto, fresh mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes
Rotelle al Broccoli e Pesto – Corkscrew pasta with broccoli and pesto
Mixed Grilled Meats – herbed marinated chicken and three types of sausage (Italian sweet and hot and kielbasa)
Mele in Crosta –apples wrapped in puffed pastry with an apricot jam filling


Menu – Day 3 – August 21st – 10:30 am to 1:30 pm

HOMEMADE PIZZA AND BAKING AND DECORATING DAY WITH GUEST CHEF MARIA SANCHEZ

We are honored to welcome back Sweet Maria!  Enjoy learning the latest trends in baking and cake decorating! Chef Maria Sanchez is the owner of Sweet Maria’s Bakery in Waterbury.  Maria is the author of eight Italian cookbooks including Small, Sweet and Italian” and the “The New Lasagna Cookbook”.

Salsa di Pomodoro per la Pizza – fresh plum tomato sauce for the pizza Classic Pizza
Margherita - the “Queen’s Pizza” with San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, oregano and basil

Hi Sally, I just wanted to thank you for yesterday!  Justin had an absolutely fabulous time and is still talking about it.  We have already made 2 batches of the crostini's, ice cream sandwiches are in the freezer as we speak and ingredients have been purchased to make the sausage bread!!  He really enjoyed himself and keeps sharing little tips that he learned from you. Thank you again and I look forward to the next class he can take with you!!
